AK-Jeff---You've made some good points. I do take issue with lumping heroin and psychedelics together, but in this case you are right to do so....they both render people physically useless.
I am all for keeping powerful drugs out of the hands of idiots. I suppose the only way to do so is to keep them illegal. It's not effective, but at least the government can say "You can't blame us".
The only thing that angers me is that there are some extremely conscientious, responsible, law-abiding folks out there who have to risk their physical freedom in order to enjoy mental freedom. I cannot adequately express the overwhelming goodness.. the permanent and positive mental restructuring, the obliteration of ingrained bad habits and destructive thought processes. I mean, a person can learn in six hours what would have otherwise taken a lifetime, if at all.
An ex-JW can essentially reset himself, shed all those years of ingrained, faulty thought patterns and be born again to a new life. Addicts can truly see what is behind their addiction and start over with a clean slate. Virtually any negative life pattern can be left behind. This stuff can and does take a person to their psychological center, square one, and allows them to observe all the choices they have made up to that point and decide if they want to continue down that road or start on a new one, with a determination and focus previously unfathomable.
But (long sigh)...most people are afraid of what they do not know, and they like to cite the occasional horror story to justify their own opinions. Perhaps I am erring the other way...seeing only my own wonderful experiences and not any of the casualties. I will always be grateful to have been introduced to psychedelics, and grateful for the life long gifts they have bestowed.

That's could be a reason that they almost became extinct!
Nooooo. I believe the Conquistadors had a lot more to do with that than sage. Archaeologists are finding that the Mayans were as or more advanced than Europe was. Your frequent posts about mind opening plants are always riddled with fear and misinformation. I recall a topic you started about LSD some time back that referenced some horribly fear-mongering 1960's government crap about people being driven to suicide. Correctly informed people, even those afraid of their own minds, can usually admit there is at least some therapeutic benefit to be had from these things. You, however, reveal your ignorance and fear everytime you post about these drugs, which, by the way, is quite often. Psychedelics have been with man since the beginning, pushing us to evolve in all facets of life and providing a permanent peace of mind to those who want it. Am I biased? Absolutely! These substances that you frequently display as horrible have vastly improved my life and millions of others for the better, and I have not touched the stuff in years! I pity anyone who lets their government tell them what to think, and doubly pity anyone who feels the need to parrot these lies and partial truths to others.

This stuff probably would have stayed under the radar if not for these videos. These kids are forcing parents and the government to ban salvia by smoking way too much and then posting the results for all to see. I think it's sad that another sacred plant is being forced underground, but it's probably for the best that it stays out of the hands of people prone to such disregardful misuse.

This is how JW's view the change in the book study
by TooBad TooSad ina very good friend of mine is convinced that the change in the book study arrangement.
is a sign that the end is so near and the jehovah made the change to emphasize the.
importance of the meetings.

His reasoning is that after 1/1/09, if you miss one of
the meetings you now miss half of the meetings for the week!!! Before you could miss
one and still have 2 more meetings to go to but not now.
We certainly must be in the last minutes of the last hours of the last weeks of the last days.
That is some of the wierdest logic I've ever heard. All hail Jehovah, the god of fractions!

WTS Kingdom Hall Asset Grab
by Ultimate Reality inmany here are familiar with the wts request to "hold" the cash funds of congregations so that a higher rate of interest can be earned, not for the local congregation benefit, but for the society to use in the worldwide work.
in particular, the funds are loaned, with interest, to other congregations that need to build or remodel halls.. .
however, a new opportunity has presented itself to the wts.. .

Interesting video. I especially like the mention of being able to access the right hemi at will. The ecstatic experience Jill had is available to all of us, along with an enlightened return to consensus reality. One does not need to suffer a brain hemhorrage to experience oneness, although it did take her for the ultimate trip... full ego shutdown. Thanks for the link, j-o.

Why do we get stumbled out of JW's because of imperfect people?
by reniaa ini see this a lot on this forum, loads of people saying they left jw's because of "hypocritical ....... ( put elder, pioneer, couple, sister, brother, governing body) here.. but?.
why would you expect any man-run organisation if you believe the bible, to have to be perfect and not be full of imperfect people that will come across as hypocritical?.
the bible examples from israelites onwards name anyone :- moses, king david, pharasees, paul the one thing the bible doesn't do is white-wash them it shows that however much we follow the laws we are always fighting our own imperfection usually failing every time and needing to be corrected sometimes punished (moses had to give-up chance of seeing the foretold land), so why do we hold this against jw's as a reasons not to be a jw's anymore?.

Your question is loaded, biased, and assuming. I, and most of the rest of us, were not "stumbled" out of the JWs. We left. It was a deliberate, decisive action based on deep flaws in JW doctrine and prophesy and repeated mistreatment of the members by the leadership that results in broken families and early deaths. People that are "stumbled" are usually just excusing non-action or nursing hurt feelings. I pity anyone who leaves what they believe to be the truth due to the imperfections of others. Who exactly is this "we" to whom you refer?

If you were the deity, would you demand to be showered with gutted animals?
by easyreader1970 ini have always been a bit confused by this.
i can understand why a deity would want and demand respect.
i can similarly understand why a deity would want and demand loyalty.

Oh absolutely. I always tell my friends that if we have a falling out, don't even try to apologize until you have mutilated and burned a medium-to-large sized hooved mammal in my front yard.

by dawg indad, .
since our time on this planet is short, i wanted to take a moment and tell you that you were the person that i loved more than any other person in the world.
nothing has made me sadder than the events that have surrounded this last year; events that were years in the making yet in my mind were unavoidable.
